But nonetheless, the TV one is still very weird like the original so they are not totally different outside of the point I mentioned. It is a matter of personal preferences though, as the web version did leave more things to your own interpretation which some people might prefer, while the TV one doesn't require you to stop and ask yourself what have you just watched, or at least not to the same level as the web one, so it is slightly less mysterious in a way. The stories in each TV episode also manage to get more deep thanks to them being longer. I personally think the TV one has a better balance of some randomness but still not so much that you don't even understand what happens.

While the web series had better songs in my opinion and was still overall good, the stories in the TV episodes felt way more collected together, while the web series often felt completely random and unclear and sometimes got a little lost in its own randomness (even though it was likely made that way on purpose). As for the differences between the web series and the TV one - I think I'll be in the minority by saying that I actually liked it better than the original web version. Art wise it's really just beautiful and I can't help but appreciate what the artists did there, you can tell how much work was put into every single prop, big or small. It is very creepy and extremely weird, yet still likeable. This is for sure a very unique and original series that can't really be compared to anything else, which is very rare these days. I want more of this show, I hope more people see this show. Even though I have that critique, the reason I don't give it a 9/10 is because still, those 2 episodes were great. Red Guy is probably the laziest one, he dosen't want to do much, but in episode 5 he's the character who wants to escape the house and starts questioning everything. Something I didn't quite love was the inconsistency of the characters, example:ĭuck is meant to be the "smartest" one, but in episode 2 he is the dumbest without any reason.Episode 1 is the funniest, Episode 3 is the scariest, Episode 6 is the best one. The unnerving feeling is always present, anything creepy might happen at anytime. The production is done perfectly, great puppetry, settings, animation, claymation, voice acting. By the end of the season you feel jawdropped, intrigued and saddened. All 6 episodes do have continuity with eachother and tell a much more surreal, comedic but depressing story.The original YouTube series was not bad, a good horror story. (WandaVision done right), A surreal and unsettling story hidden as a fuzzy and colorful comedy. Lets get creative! A show where 3 puppet characters live in a sitcom like setting and little by little its revealed that everything is not quite what it seems. Once again I did thoroughly enjoy this series, especially the last two episodes, but this just isn't as good as the web series. Just a few nitpicks I have with the new show.

Plus Roy was very underused in this, and a lot of the lore seems to contradict nearly every theory people came up with for the first one.
This is June 20th, but still feels like we're stuck on the 19th. Especially with the brilliant end to the first one. Plus, it's hard to see where this would fit into the timeline. The story moved forward, while every episode in this starts as a clean slate. Lore - Theories were a big part of the original DHMIS, and the lore was packed throughout. Comprehension - While, yes, the original one wasn't that comprehensible either, but was still easy to follow along with, which is where this suffers.
Length - I feel as though it was drawn out compared to say the original where the longest episode was 10 minutes and was entertaining throughout. So with that out of the way, let's get into my nitpicks 1.
